i don't think "healthy tagging culture" actually exists

i'll be honest, searching for tags on cohost is not a great experience. even if you wanted to go out and proactively find specific tags for your interests, good luck!

tag fragmentation is pretty bad even for more specific tags than "global feeds" and cohost on principle doesn't tell you which ones are more active, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

the need for tools to help limit the amount, reach, and impact of harassment doesn't really go away if global feed tags die, either, so idk i feel like a lot more hay is being made than is necessary

The only issue I have with tags is the marathon tag being used for speedrun marathons. The word is already used enough for running, as it is, thus making it harder to find things related to the video game of the same name, but then if a speedrun marathon make a bunch of posts, all tagged marathon, then the video game, Marathon, just disappears from the results :(
