since cohost interprets an hr element as introducing a "read more" cut, introducing a horizontal rule to separate footnotes1 without a cut requires a different solution. It's not complicated, but:
border-top: 1px solid black
serves nicely. I used .75em for the footnote font size, but there's probably better responsive options.
