brace yourself (to prevent further injury)

Someone shared an interesting speedrunning video essay the other day and I kept being distracted by pepes. The person who made it just recorded their written script live on twitch over prepared video footage and edited it down for youtube... but they had twitch chat as part of the scene. Not only did it add nothing of value, but it was constantly filled with pepes. I had no idea there were so many different pepe emotes. I don't think I even finished the video because I just had no idea pepe was not only relevant, but very strong outside of my usual circles.

Of course, not everyone knows, but I sure wish twitch culture at large would use literally anything else.
