A grand and intoxicating innocence

Hey, don't ask me my opinion -- I'm nobody. Just pretend I'm not here.

I mostly just post about things tangentially related to The Simpsons, or Morrowind or The X-COM Files.

I managed to get through 8 out of 12 kits in my backlog during my break! I started with my Gouf and then went through my other non-Witch From Mercury pals in the order above.

  • Char's Z'gok: Pretty simple, a lot of busywork for those arms and legs though! Some parts fit together really awkwardly especially in the torso where I really had to squeeze 'em to get them together. I had difficulty getting him to stand up which I realised after taking the photo was because I had the joints on one of the legs turned around to face the wrong way. Whoops!
  • Death Army: Was a little turd with some not-great instructions. I usually try to stick to gunpla from series I've seen, but I paid like $6AUD for this guy and I like spiky clubs.
  • Guntank!!: It's Guntank!!!!
  • GM (Shoulder Cannon/Missile Pods): Hoo boy. This might be the coolest kit I've done, I really like how it turned out. It was also the biggest pain in my ass in the entire world. I usually set aside 3 hours for a kit and most times complete it in around 2. This bastard took 6 hours. A lot of weird complexity for internal parts that add a really small amount of extra articulation. Each of those red dots on the missile pods is a sticker and my nightmare. I took a full hour applying the 10 tiny stickers to the first missile pod before realising I'd put them on the wrong side and had to remove them and do it again right. On the plus side it's made me much less nervous about applying stickers, so there's that. This guy also comes with so many weapon options. I went with the missile pods build and gave him 2 swords because my favourite kind of mech to use in a game is a missile shotgun berserker, so that plus 2 swords seemed like the right option, but the shoulder cannon you can give him is also badass, and the other guns are really cool also. I almost want to buy this kit again just to do him different but it was such an ordeal to build that it makes me second guess that idea.

After this I moved on to my Witch From Mercury kits, which has been a real nice change of pace versus some of the older kits - the WFM ones are just so well designed, love 'em.
