if you aren't aware, this is part of a movement to vote Uncommitted Delegates in the primary as a form of protest to Democrat insiders and Biden over their enabling of genocide in Palestine (though I'm sure we can all think of a host of other reasons to be disillusioned with party leadership).
this article provides some useful information I wasn't aware of:
Writing in “Ceasefire” or “Mickey Mouse” simply amounts to throwing away your vote–according to state law, officials only have to tally write-in votes from candidates who filed “timely declarations” of a write-in candidacy and who also exceed the number of votes earned by the second-place candidate. In other words, no one is going to see your write-in vote.
I didn't know write in votes are simply tossed. this might be of interest to others on here.
also interesting is that Uncommitted currently seems to have won about 13% of the vote in Michigan. a sizable showing! now, that translates to 2 out of Michigan's 117 delegates, because this country is a fucking joke.
I don't know if this will actually do anything of note. I'm very cynical about the possibility of affecting a gerontocracy of party hacks, landlords, and the puppets of global capitalism, not to mention bloodthirsty warhawks. but there are two very good reasons to vote Uncommitted in the Democratic Primary: it's really pretty easy to do, and it will be very, very funny, much funnier at least than having your write in protest vote thrown out.
