A real "we've got a nephew" of graphic design and illustration, mental illness held at bay by a very nice vegetable garden and cats.

Lapsed printmaker, you should ask me about it and I'll be very weird

Trying to cut out drinking pop at home, so I bought a new C02 cylinder and I'm ready to start whipping up a new batch of Weird Drinks. Last summer (or two??) I bought a huge range of flavor essences that worked, for the most part (8 drops max per 1 liter before the texture starts to get oily).

However, the best seltzers are Spindrift, that at least puts the fruit in the can. Like one grapefruit per 8 cans, but I think it tastes better. RIP to my real love, the cucumber one, which no one else on earth liked I guess.

First test was two leftover prickly pears from making margaritas, and a couple slices of mango. Let it sit overnight, hit it with the blender, strained out the seeds and pulp, and then hit it with the CO2. The final result kinda tasted like cucumbers? Prickly pear isn't a super strong flavor already, so it might have only been the mango.

Tonight's jar has some crushed up cuties. I also put what zest I could salvage from the thin skins and put some sugar on it, in hopes of creating a lil bit of Oleo-saccharum to put in.

Honestly after giving up soda I can't even drink most of the popular ones anymore, just too much sugar. If I go for something it's like small brewery stuff with less sugar and more exotic flavors, or just sparkling water with some juice.
