• They/Them

A real "we've got a nephew" of graphic design and illustration, mental illness held at bay by a very nice vegetable garden and cats.

Lapsed printmaker, you should ask me about it and I'll be very weird

Less of a harvest today, more of a great thinning to give the green onions, candy onions, and carrots more room to breathe. Every time I think I've thinned them enough, they get all bunched up again. Next year I'm going to see if there's a way to make your own homemade seed tape. I'll sit there with some tweezers and glue tiny carrot seeds to some tape, don't think I won't.

All of the onions are going to be turned into either scallion pancakes, or a friend linked me a recipe for a lazy dragon roll, which is essentially a bao bun Swiss roll (https://www.okonomikitchen.com/lazy-dragon-roll/).

The green beans are also starting to come in, with a little garden snack of two. There continues to be plenty of cucumbers, which is fine, because I've single handedly polished off at least half the first jar of fridge pickles.

With the ground cherries, we finally got a few safe ones in and it turns out I'm the only one in the house who likes them. I think they taste like a cross between a pineapple and a tomato, but one roommate described them as "like a rotted tomato". I also scared all of them by saying that intros unripe ones were dangerous, so everyone is super gunshy. Oh well, more for me, and I can store them until I get a big enough batch for jam. I think they'll taste great that way.
