• They/Them

A real "we've got a nephew" of graphic design and illustration, mental illness held at bay by a very nice vegetable garden and cats.

Lapsed printmaker, you should ask me about it and I'll be very weird

For at least a month and a half I've been dead set on actually making cards and sending them out, especially since making treats for everyone is wildly out of budget this year. It's less about the 'tradition' or doing it just because, but sending out a card with even a little note, to me, is like saying "Hot damn friend, we made it through the whole bastard of a year, and I'm glad you were there with me".

Sorta like the original lyrics to Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas:

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
It may be your last.
Next year we may all be living in the past.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Pop that champagne cork.
Next year we may all be living in New York.
No good times like the olden days.
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who were dear to us.
Will be near to us no more.
But at least we all will be together.
If the Lord allows.
From now on, we'll have to muddle through somehow.
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now

(I'd like everyone to appreciate I had to code that CSS on my phone keyboard, with it auto correcting the whole time D8)

Also like after a point, birthdays become a celebration of the fact we're still alive, despite the best efforts of a lot of bastards. Normally this happens when you're like 60+, but between the pandemic, transphobic and homophobic laws, racism, cops, alt right movements, everything, that timeline of peace has gotten shorter.

So this season reach out to your loved ones and friends, and reaffirm they aren't alone in the darkness. Doesn't have to be a present, a fancy card, or a basket of treats, just your words. It's one of the few things they can't take away, after all.
