you should try! software synths are a good place to start. there are free options for a DAW (the program you use to produce the music) like Reaper. and there's no shortage of free synth plugins.
as far as free synth plugins go, i really like Vital bc there's a lot of visuals to help me better understand the changes i'm making to a sound and it's super versatile.
