Okay so about three years ago, almost to the day, I finished writing a story in the Korps universe. The thing is, it was set so far into the future that a lot of the lore for the organization in general just wasn't public. So it remained a secret of the at-the-time secret deep lore chat room on the main Korps discord.
Time has certainly passed.
So, this was written with a lot of... we'll call it prior knowledge in mind. You have to already know who our friends JB & Ellie are, you really need to know about the universe they come from, you need to be familiar with folks like Caroline, Ghost, Tracie, & the Crosser sisters of our own fiction. There's lots of general Korps prerequisite to be known too, such as who the Overlord is and what his origins are. I suppose soon I'll release some kind of library document here, with synopses for various origin stories and a recommended reading order even though they're written out of order.
What I didn't expect when I started writing, was that this would become the foundational document in-universe for our views on synths, life, and intelligence both artificial and biological. It had been addressed somewhat in Caroline's origin story, but we go deeper here into what becomes the kind of end game Korps philosophy on life.
I never intended to be a canon lore writer, I just had ideas, people liked them.
So here we are.
So this is it. A story that I cry when I re-read because I know what is coming, and I've had several readers come back to me in tears for the way they were moved. It's a long read, and it was a lot of work, but I've always been proud of this one. It was the first one ever written that inspired spontaneous art by a reader. I'll let you find that as you go.
I hope you like it.
Please enjoy, Go Time
