To post some positivity tonight. I finally learned the Signalis speedrun!!

It's actually pretty comfy. It really hits me in the nostalgia of running SH3 back in the day, which I would love to run again if my game ever worked....

I also hit 400 followers on Twitch! It only took me 10 years and I think I had like 400+ on one account before but I kept making new accounts because I hate progress so. But it's pretty cool. I feel like I've sabotaged myself the last 3 years getting close to 400 then taking a 6 month break then streaming a bunch of League of Legends and just decimating my follower count back down. So the fact that it is in fact still going up is nice.

I totally forgot to post this earlier but this week was a really fun game! I decided to learn The Last Campfire on a whim because I caught the post GDQ Hotfix Showcase show with Cutieroo showcasing this game and it just looked really comfy and up my alley. Gave me big Oceanhorn run vibes.

I'm really glad I learned it because it really is just a really comfy run, it has just enough movement and puzzle optimization and glitches and out of bounds at just the right difficulty to make a great laid back no reset run game. It's essentially the sort of run that I had wanted out of GRIS. I've already even done a second stream of runs for the game and will probably continue here and there to do more in the future.

I ended up with a 1:01:17 on my first run during the learning stream however it is no longer my PB which is now a 59:37 due to the second stream I did. I don't know if I want to seriously try to grind down for WR since that would require grinding down a few more minutes but I definitely think I want to get closer to Larvitar's 56:51. I'll just have too see how much time I'll have with the next run I'll start learning this week and whether I get really into that run instead.

Welp. It's another week, and that means it was time to learn another speedrun. This week I chose GRIS any% NMG because I'd played a decent chunk on my steam deck at work and was really enjoying it.

Honestly I was surprised at how much of a walking simulator it was. I excepted the platforming to get a lot more complicated past where I'd played casually and while it did for sure for optimization in the long run it was straight forward enough to learn quickly. The few glitches as well while I couldn't get all to work didn't save massive amounts of time so I mostly just went with the intended strats. I thought there'd be a plethora of glitches since it's "no major glitches" and was only a few minutes slower than Any% but I guess I'm wrong and it's more of a case of Any% only has a few glitches but they're frustrating enough to warrant making a category without them?

Either way, I was originally expecting this to be a two day learner since I had a birthday dinner to attend tonight but I was wrong and I managed to learn and complete a run in only four and a half hours. It turns out I'd played the majority casually already and with it being relatively linear that meant I was mostly just quickly memorizing which way to go. It's one of those easy to learn extremely difficult to master and get top times because it's entirely just optimizing your game play type of runs.

I only had time for one run but we ended with a respectable 1:38:43.54. I was happy to go under 1:40:XX. I'll probably continue to run this game occasionally, it was comfy enough that it works well for some chill no reset run streams where I probably wont tryhard.

As this only took one day to learn again I haven't decided what else I'll stream this week, I'll probably do a few more runs on Tuesday but not sure for Friday. My work schedule should also be going somewhat back to normal next week so our next game we'll probably learn on Monday instead of Sunday.
