i dont know what "steam killed it" is referring to but you can definitely still get the demo on itch https://blacktabbygames.itch.io/slay-the-princess
Steam demos are sometimes remotely deactivated by Steam so you can no longer play them, For Reasons. (No idea what those reasons are)
Instead of a Play button, it’ll show a “purchase” button, most of the time.
