no , band at camp friday ? !

yes chosters, chosties and choosters, it is that time again - first friday of the month means bandcamp has waived their fees, letting artists net more money per pickup. as i saw in a post by @hvb earlier, i would like to do a little walkthrough with in-chost playlists so you can sample something to see if it's just the sound you need right now 💗

my first work released as "our dear friend, the medic", a bit of a breakup choon i made on an overworked and overheating 2011 imac following the dissolution of a relationship and my computer failing days later. despite this, the shimmery layers and steel guitar twangs lend it a hopeful spirit

a tribute to and my own spin on the works of various "laptop" glitch musicians of the early to mid 00s, who brought live processing of audio to the stage in ways that only raw computing power could do at the time. a cool breeze signaling the forthcoming end of summer, & "the relief of knowing that, for now, the worst is behind us". it's more of a soundscape to get lost in, but quite musical in its details. every sound originates from guitar!

"all that remained was the beating of our hearts" is my first full-length album as a solo artist, a post-apocalyptic shoegaze emo jambient drone piece made by collected scraps, mis-renderings and practice takes that were recovered after my working drive died without warning. 2022 was a miserable time for me and computers. it tells a story of healing and finding meaning again after catastrophic loss. to find her eyes waiting to meet yours after the smoke has cleared. it covers a wide variety of sounds and genres, so feel free to check out a few different tracks, but i honestly feel it works best when taken as a whole

what began as calibrations/preparing for a separate idea gave birth to a trio of piano improvisations guided by various delay and echo units. i took inspiration from some deep cuts in italian experimental music from the 60s and 70s for some of the progressions and overall sound with touches of tape warmth but focus on a clarity and breathable space between notes

writtten and produced entirely within the 24 hours after the announcement of stars of the lid's brian mcbride's passing, a celestial drone piece built entirely from cello and granular processing. stars of the lid's work got me through some incredibly tough times. i remember too many nights in bed just trying to hold on to something playing their music on a shitty hp laptop and worse speakers. as a note this is perpetually available as free/pay what you want!

my most recent release, second full-length, and direct continuation of "all that remained was the beating of our hearts". an album of wistful longing, uncertainty, acceptance, and taking a leap of faith to reach for the promise of better tomorrows. like its predecessor, it jumps between a handful of guitar pieces and some other genres, with the addition of both field recordings and simulated environmental audio - the wind blowing on "under the vastness of the failing sky" is actually amplified layers of tape hiss!

music to heal to. music to confess to. be it hurt or heart, our dear friend, the medic has a little something in her kit to set you right. thank you for listening, and for your support if you've the means 💗
