part of the work of unlearning white supremacy and racism is that when you see a post about "white people(/men/women/etc) ALWAYS," is:

  1. realize that not every post is about you. take a deep breath. don't take it personally.
  2. think about the ways in which the sentiment is true, and approach the post in good faith, even if you disagree with the phrasing or whatever
  3. (this is the tricky one) think about how your own behavior and thoughts as a white person does or could contribute to this phenomenon (but again see #1: don't take it personally)
  4. leave the op alone. you don't need to go to bat for the white race just because you feel like "not all whites." i'm talking comments, asks, vagueposts. if you feel like you can't stop yourself, you have a responsibility to press the Log Off button and go do something else. even if you can't do steps 1-3, this one may be the most important: don't make your white feelings someone else's problem

tone policing, picking apart language to justify your white anger, weaponizing your white pain to attack poc, these are all tools of oppression and white supremacy. i strongly urge you to think about this before you hit the Post Now button.

thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your day ✌️

My submission to Decker Fantasy Camp 2024!
featuring lots of drawings & writing about my characters + some interactive stuff :)
I even got to animate a little something, yippee!

we're currently in the middle of a heatwave where I live, working on this project for the past few days/weeks has helped me forget about the hot weather haha
