Some corners of indie RPGs seem bizarrely unfriendly to hacking stuff or coming at things sideways
It makes me curious if there're people that just kind of touch indie rpgs, have a desire to support them, but don't really engage beyond that.
My working theory is that far more people read a game and talk about it than play a game and talk about it
truly, everyone in "the scene" right now needs to talk less and play more.

And due to the snippet soundbite emotion-based Proclamation and Values Judgment nature of social media, it's very hard to tell the difference unless you already know the poster, and asking "Oh, why are you hacking X" has a similar range of possible tones and it's a toss-up whether you'll be met with hostility or...
Anyway it sucks for everyone yeah, you're 100% right and my particular friction point is "in addition to playing lots and lots of games over the years, I really enjoy discussing what-goes-into-games and what-goes-into-play-experiences and have a couple actual papers published and no one actually wants to talk about that though they just want to relitigate D&D again sigh I'm so tired I don't want to fight I want to discuss"
