finally built an Astir for Armor Astir. Wish me luck on this Channeler Adventure.
- Is a Wizard going to show up? Are there no more Wizards? Did our society overthrow a former nobility of "Wizard Kings"
- when would be running into Authority Astirs? What are we doing where these Astirs are sent to stop us or set in our way?
- Wait have all of us listened to Blowback? That podcast rules.
- When you say "The Faeries are using their power to transition our workshop based economy into manufacturing the parts for an Interplanar Space Station" do you mean that space is in the equation here? *No, my pitch is that the Faeries want to build a portal that they can use like Sigil in Baldur's Gate, but it only works if they build it out of materials from this plane. *
- What does the Authority hate? Lying. How is the Authority hypocritical? Lying
I can't footnote in a numbered list but I want to take a minute to share something really cool that we stepped onto.
There's this kind of respectability politic that we're putting into our Authority faction and part of that is that the people of our city refer to the faerie as "Visitors." We had like a 30 minute conversation about Salt, the symbolism of salt and salt rings as wards against the faeries and what the explanation of that is. Through googling, we found an explanation that the reason salt circles are abhorred by faeries is that one, salt is a symbol of preservation and thus anathema to the kind of irreverent attitude of whimsical change that the fine folk enjoy. the second is that the circle is a kind of threshold that the faeries have to respect. We also talked about other potential thresholds like running water (though that's more the headless horseman) and eventually the planar barrier itself. So in this 30 minute conversation we worked through how exactly the Faeries were establishing themselves in our city while they faced a challenge of thresholds.
It will be very interesting to crash into Faeries in Armor Astir imo. The kind of faerie semantic tricks are something I look forward to engaging with.
