One Canuck built the #ttrpg tag and the #mecha tag. And that was me.

FATT's Faction v Ground Game stuff has always been incredibly My Shit. Ever since COUNTER/Weight, I've wanted to pull something like that and Armour Astir just building it in (granted, I think AA:A says that the players should be the same for both sides), is really cool.
AA:A does say that everyone plays in the conflict turn yes. I didn't say that explicitly but it's the foundation for my gm-ful bit.
I don’t understand the mechanics or natural flow of Armor Astir let alone the conflict turn to really know if it down to the way it is being played or just a remarkable series of unfavourable rolls for the cause.
But whatever the reason, as stressed as I am about the way things are going, I do find it narratively delicious that The Blue Channel seems to be the only member of the cause capable of reliably getting points on the board.
the one thing that occasionally bugs me is how they tend to powergame the authority side of the faction turn much more than the cause. They did something in the second scene today that I felt they could've easily done in the first one and maybe gotten a win out of it.
But that's actual play and frankly the rules in the conflict turn section of the book are a bit messy. Also it feels kind of thematically fitting that the big powerful state aparatus is just much more efficient at applying its power than the group of plucky resistance fighters.
This entire season has been a constant exercise in negotiating my personal desire for things to go bad for the awful people and my interest in messy and generally interesting stories.
We wouldn't have gotten that entire last arc, if it wasn't for the faction game's overall desire to push things as hard as they can and generally these kinds of things lead to more exciting stories. But again, I also want for someone to kick Exenceaster into a Ravine.
I agree in that I love the escalation that this play stokes, but I do wish that the cause factions got to meet these escalated stakes and resolve them beyond the Blue Channel!
