I saw a Reddit comment comparing ttrpg groups to bands when sometimes the group clicks, sometimes it doesn’t, and sometimes you gotta just let the band break up if it’s not working out. Can’t find it again.

One Canuck built the #ttrpg tag and the #mecha tag. And that was me.

Also like bands, sometimes one dude is just an asshole who should probably go solo at this point.
Usually it's the dude who desperately wants to play the protagonist so might as well lol.
Ah I thought you were talking about a GM who railroads but that’s a good pull too.
No, suprisingly I've had the good fortune of avoiding those which I realize is atypical. I did have one GM who didn't think to let me know that my necromancer character wouldn't be a good choice for an adventure where we were working with a direct line to his setting's god of life, though.
One of the best reasons to play online in my opinion is because it makes the break up stage so much better. It's way easier to end a group or kick a few specific people out if you don't have the risk of seeing them in real life.
yeah and nobody is out asking questions. it's just: "We wanted different things out of the game"
