i kinda feel like Friends at the Table are missing out on the mechanical value of risks in Armour Astir!

most of the time, the interaction goes "here's what happens to you, choose an adjective to describe that". the risk thus mostly feels like a result that is inflicted on the character. but as i understand the system and its flavour, the potential lies in asking "what risk do you take" – framing it as an action of the character. it's basically a modification of the ever-present "what do you do" of the PbtA playstyle... emphasizing this would also make the contrast to perils, which are fundamentally done to a character, much more clear.

though i think this difference, which is mostly narrative, might compete with the more immediately mechanical distinction of risks being temporary and perils being sticky.
