Grant Howitt has said that ap is the porn to ttrpg's sex, and I think that if he had actually wrote how to run his games instead of "just do it, you already know how" that wouldn't be the case.
I know his actual point is how ap listeners have the wildest opinions that they feel the need to voice as if it's some kind of worthwhile criticism but my points stands.
I don't know who to credit to but the sentiment "every designer is writing down the game that they play" sticks with me for RPG criticism. I think everyone at RRD is comfortable just vibing their way through their games and they don't see "hey how the fuck do I run these?" as an actual problem. At this point I just ignore their output because I find their books legitimately unusable though
Yeah there’s something to seeing how there’s obviously years of experience on learning how to run games. I want that in the book and not doled out in tweets.
