It has to be a mix of a cast of one-liner jackasses like you'd find in Ace Combat and Top Gun: Maverick but strung out over a plot of like, a really good analysis of how civilian infrastructure is either converted to or already primed for inclusion in a wartime economy. I need to know some aspect of how the mechs are actually made, like the farm-to-table pitch from the poor fuck that mines the uranium day-to-day all the way into the mech's reactor before it explodes when some hotshot comes up with a clever ploy to win the day.
That's what I could hope for at least. Really, I'm happy whenever mech shows throw something new at me that teaches me something I didn't understand or shows me an angle I hadn't considered. It it lets me rest on something I am conflicted on is good too. If it's a serial show, if it just gives me something to think about in the week between episodes (in either a "hmm" capacity or a head canon capacity or a fan theory capacity) then i'm happy.
