white Americans in particular hate being uncomfortable so much
i grew up in an especially shitty and racist small town in Michigan that turned their high school mascot getting a petition to be renamed into culture war shit, that got sued by the ACLU twice for a racist school culture
i want to share posts about pushing back against racism in internet culture and white queer online culture, especially by black and POC writers, not as a way to assuage a guilty conscience but out of a genuine desire to improve the world and make it safer and better for more people in it
accept the discomfort, comrades. accept the possibility of having your biases confronted. it isn't easy but guess what— there's harder living out there.
i used to self med, i used to couchsurf, i have stories you probably would not believe. empathy, love, and accepting that you* and your own negative experiences do not make you the protagonist of reality are essential in this world.
