i'm imagining a world where people talk about competitive chess the same way they talk about competitive pokemon and smash
it's fucking stupid when someone challenges me to a game of chess and they bring out a fucking clock. like, the game CLEARLY wasn't designed for that sort of play, it was made for me to take 10 minutes to decide on what pawn to move
"competitive players" making shit like "openings" and "strategies," it's bullshit. Karin said that if I want to win by starting the round by moving the pawn guarding the king, I can, and they're all elitists for telling me that's a bad idea
i just don't get why competitive players don't just go play football if they want to play a real competitive game. chess was a casual boardgame first and foremost, and they had to suck the fun out of it with their rulesets
turns out i make maps! infrequently, but i do in fact make them, and i've been told i'm pretty okay at it even. (technically neither of the examples above are completely finished pieces, but they look pretty good so i figured they'd be good choices for a post about this)
Anyway, i'm like a hundred dollars in the hole right now and i would very much like some cash, so i'm going to tentatively open up Map Commissions. for the low low price of just $75 united states dollars, you can ask me to make a big fancy map for your tabletop campaign. wow your friends and/or your actual play video podcast with detailed, thematic depictions of your fantasy world's geopolitics while also giving me, jane underscore, Your Money, which i want very badly
if you're interested, feel free to fill out this google form and i'll do my best to get back to you quickly! thank you <3
alternatively if you don't care about maps but instead just want to give me some money because i'm really awesome and cute you can do that here
the second map jane drew for a game of mine a while back and its still one of the coolest things someone has ever done for me, highly reccommended
