"tExT hAs nO tOnAl iNfOrMaTiOn" fools. with enough Capitalization, Punctuation (or lack thereof), and Spacing, you can convey Fucking Anything. simply break free of what you were taught english was Meant To Look Like and you can do whatever you want. the queen is dead her english can't hurt you

in reply to @NireBryce's post:

Speaking as someone who assumes himself to be neurotypical, I've always hated the assertion that tone doesn't carry in text, as basically an admission that the person doesn't want to put any effort into writing or reading. It's especially galling, when the same person will turn around and talk about how evocative some poem feels, or how funny they found a book, because...do those not rate as conveyed tone?

i don't hate writing to people with tone markers, but reading things from neurotypicals? especially when you don't know the person at the other end of the line? that's hell in ambiguity

in reply to @atomicthumbs's post:

i've known people who are not "brain straight" and have a hard time identifying tone over text (especially with people who aren't fluent in, i guess, "internet text style") so this post just comes across as, like, way too general.
