I love the idea of de-googling my life and going linux user mode and running my own little server, and I'm actively in the process of doing all these things! I'm a fairly techy person and so it's reasonably accessible to me.

But, even with that caveat, god sysadmin fucking blows. No wonder IT pays so well. Trying to manage my tiny NUC server makes me wish computers didn't exist.

This wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact I have. SOMETHING in my head that makes me an organization freak. My friends always give me shit for, in the past, deleting Steam games from my inventory just because I never played them and having them there really bugged me for some reason. So server stuff can leave me like. Stressed out about the roots this program is digging into my filesystem and all the configs I need to keep tabs on and where logs are and how often I should really be checking them and whether this should be a normal program or a docker image and if it's a normal program where do I put it does this run under admin privileges or just on my own account and should I upgrade my physical machine so I can have more drive space but then I need to migrate all my stuff over and probably reconfigure networking crap and.

Guh.
