Big controversy on Reddit today because someone's teacher told their child that 1 divided by 0 equals zero when actually you cannot divide anything by zero. You can't divide anything by zero because you'd be left with nothing a.k.a. zero. Same shit. This the hill I'm going to die on

ah ah ah not so fast. you can't divide by 0 because the answer is infinity, not zero
you can see it by dividing numbers by fractions.
5/0.5 = 10
5/0.1 = 50
as the amount you divide it by goes down, the solution goes up. so if you bring the amount you divide by all the way to 0, you moved all the way to infinity
Helpfully writing down "One divided by zero = [drawing of a circle to represent infinity]" to remember this
