Where the city is rife with conflicts between gangs, love can be found between a thief with no direction in his life and a leader who tries to keep her gang and her personal life separate. Will they find what they are looking for and keep hold of it or will the city tear them apart and burn what little they have to the ground?
One of the gangs have come together for a morning meeting, getting reminded of the rules by their boss, Terek. One member of the gang catches his attention, the young Lupo, and decides to ask what he is planning.
Here is a small snippet of the story:
The new dawn sun of a mid-summer day shines across the city to announce the next day has begun for all of its residents. Illuminating tall skyscrapers packed with businesses whose windows reflect the small mom and pop shops that line the streets surrounding them. High class gated communities that are all the same shade contrasted against working appartements and ghettos full of culture and music. Walking the streets are animals on two feet wearing suits and shirts, going about workdays and meeting family as you or I would. A wide and varied city full of animals living their day to day, living, and loving in equal measure while looking for a reason to step into the next day. Our story today focuses on the lower side of town, between the ghettos and skyscrapers where people with too much money to burn whisper about gangsters. For the people living here, there is nothing more important than flying your colors and protecting your found family. In one of the warehouses, foreclosed by a bank that never bothered to check if anyone is squatting in it or has repurposed it into a gang hideout, a new day means a new meeting.
Inside on a small stage set up for moments like this, a tall figure steps up in front of a few dozen others that wait with bated breath for the speaker. The figure cuts an imposing silhouette against the light peeking through the windows, tall with sleek black fur and the sharp features of a jackal that smirks down at his audience. Wearing worn out jeans and a well-loved leather jacket with his bare chest out to taunt anyone with a bone to pick with him. On the back of the jacket is the symbol of the gang, a canine beast howling in defiance to the sky. The leader of the Howlers looks across the assembled gang and nods with small bit of pride, not a member assembled falling short of expectations. His voice echoes with easy earned authority in the space, all snouts snapping to him in attention as they listen with rapt attention.
“Alright, new day and new week, means you all get the usual rules just in case someone came by and knocked it out of your head on the way down to the asphalt.” The gangsters let out a chuckle at the joke, each of them has heard this all before but even a well-maintained gang needed to be reminded just in case someone lost themselves. “First, family comes first every single time, whether that means the family at home or the family in this room. We all rely on each other because no one else will, we protect our own, got it?” His eyes scan the crowd with a scowl, knowing that in the past this simple rule fell to the wayside in favor of dumb ideas and ego. Everyone nods in agreement; his eyes do catch one figure in the back that chuckles to himself before nodding along. He scoffs, knowing that there are still members of the Howlers who find mischief a fun pastime to indulge in.
