Spent an hour and a half relearning javascript and writing a userscript so I can block distracting sites. It just adds a div to make the whole screen a dark gray. I did this because all the add-ons I tried that claim to do something like this fails in some crucial way on Firefox. My solution is simple and I hope to expand upon it with something like a text field where I have to enter some phrase that reminds me to keep my priorities straight and it'll allow me on the site for like 5 minutes or something real short. And I also want like a 3 hour window where the filter is not active for the same 3 hours every day. I'll also want to add a whitelist so I can allow twitter DMs so I can still do business things there if needed.
I miss the add-on that worked so well on chrome called SayFocusd. It had so many options on it, saved me from so many distractions on days where the distractability would bring me near to tears.
Well time for me to be less distracted and try to get some work done today.
