this does seem to be a pretty huge conflict between tag muffling as a safety/self-moderation feature and repost tag removal as inherited from tumblr

if both of these are gonna stay the same, there really ought to be hidden tags: they don't show on the post or enter it into the tag pages, but they're there for the safety features, and are inherited from the original.

allowing folks to put them on a post in the first place would also allow them to tag something for muffling without entering it into the tag page (so you don't have your post catalogued in a page of phobias or potentially triggering things, for instance)

edit: i made a topic in the bug report forum about it

in reply to @neen's post:

So afaik, if you repost/quick repost a post on here, it gets rid of the tags. I think its a way to put your own tags on when you repost it, but it kinda ends up this way where reposts just arent tagged at all. Definitely needs improvement

...good grief

at this rate i may just mothball the account til they fix the damn accessibility issues because this is absolutely ridiculous

thanks for the information x-x

Yeah that's why. It works similar to Tumblr in that regard, and technically Twitter QRTs; You add your own tags, the OPs are not carried through.

The tag muffling I think was just a quick-and-dirty QoL feature they felt was ready to release, but its up to the OP to add universal CWs at this time.

File feedback or a support ticket for things you want to see changed. I've been told not enough people actually report oversights and issues like this: https://help.antisoftware.club/support/discussions

that doesn't appear to highlight the particular conflict with muffling as a safety feature; if you don't mind, i can make a new one

edit: yeah it's basically talking about the opposite problem, which no longer exists, where someone could say tag a share as "the cohost global feed" and enter the original post into "the cohost global feed" without their consent
