Hey I'm trying to find a specific model of old handheld clamshell PDA thingy, keyboard and wide aspect frontlit LCD kinda thing. My friend found one left behind at a library in 2009 and the owner seemingly didn't come back for it that day, so perhaps considered somewhat disposable by then. Standard suite of software sounds like, specifically mentioned calendar, notes (it could handle pretty lengthy drafts), and Snake.

The only reason I even think it's weird enough to try asking internet folk is that they said it had a patch of solar cells, like basic calculators, and that they didn't have to change the battery ever despite pretty regular use for a year or so, so the solar seems to have done its job. I've never heard of those solar cells powering something complex enough to run Snake, personally, so I'm intrigued.

Any ideas? or sites for pictures of these things? I'll say that a picture of an HP-200LX was close enough in general proportions that they looked closer for a moment before dismissing it, so that's the vague silhouette I'm sticking with.

nts dreamwriter? editing to add: alright, they are not solarpowered, but none of my search results for “solarpowered palmtop” are. it was on my mind recently as one of their early ones was good competition for an amstrad portable at the time, because it was still able to power the disk drive to save files after an hour's use! anyhow i think you might be looking for something with a solar panel retrofitted to trickle charge the batteries when not in use. i'm interested in the search either way!

It's weird, right?

I think the Dreamwriter is a significantly larger size class. I'd also be shocked if the device in question ran off floppies, and it seems to me that the Dreamwriters that don't have floppies don't actually fold.
