going back to monogame like a rebound after dumping my shitty on-again-off-again boyfriend Unity for the fourth time, complete with all my friends on the sideline wanting to tell me there are nicer guys out there that don't have problems like per-install fees OR the MGCB but biting their tongues bc they know this is part of the process-- the messy, messy process

me: monogame promise you'll never change our contract
monogame: never baby. i'm foss forever
me: thank you monogame
monogame: of course baby
me, tearing up: why don't they UNDERSTAND that all i want is a RELIABLE GUY who can PORT TO CONSOLES
monogame: i could be that for you.
me, turning away: but would you be open to me? would you have readable documentation?
monogame: all of my source code is yours for the reading.
me: but would you COMMENT yourself? for me?
monogame: ...
monogame: it's getting late. let's get some sleep

unity knocking on my door at 3am. monogame answering the door, bare-chested. nothing is said because everything is now known. this has happened before; both know their place in the cycle. unity tries to hold monogame's steely gaze: one engine and one framework, both with their endless complications. monogame's eyes are cornflower blue; unity's a deep gray. neither is a good man, but maybe one is willing to try.

unity looks away. monogame offers him a cigarette

the key to what makes fictional men attractive is the idea of them as strange, powerful creatures who harbor dark impulses which they fight against daily: to love to the point of captivity, to consume to the point of devouring, to want to the point of obsession. the key to what makes real men attractive is having as little of those qualities as possible, while still seeming like they might

Yep. A perspective from the other side, my autistic awkwardness lends me a small amount of that dark appearance to begin with, which turns out to be entirely accidental and I'm just a teddy bear when you get to know me. I guess it's nice to know what it's like to punch above my weight class? lol

Godot is just a weird Linux guy. He absolutely can help you setup the coolest media server you've ever seen, but he's baffled by the idea that you don't already own a rasberry pi. Hell, you shouldn't even be using those things. And of course like you write all your documents in latex, right?

He's great at what he does, genuinely fantastic, and you really like him whenever he feels like he's on the same plane as you. Most of the time it seems like he's more caught in the world he thinks should be then the world that is; sometimes you wish you could be caught there too. Fantasy is nice, sometimes.

unity has a builder's physique: bulky and strong. he's prepared to do some serious heavy lifting, although he lacks dexterity and is often bullheaded about doing things his way. monogame, on the other hand, is slender, lithe to the point of worrying whether he gets enough nutrition. his muscles, though smaller, are powerful and dextrous. it's the job of a framework to be sleek; it's the job of an engine to be strong.
