Megan Hunt organizing to burn down the Nebraska state Senate over a bill that would ban healthcare for trans youth is a good example of how passionate cis allies can get in a way that's really inspiring. Her son is trans so she literally is like, I refuse to play any of the cordiality games with anyone who supports this bill you're literally trying to force my son through dysphoric puberty fuck you I'm not letting any legislating of any kind happen if this bill advances Nebraska won't even have a legislature if it's one that advances this bill.

I'm sure she's an imperfect person given she's a politician but she's not acting like one right now and it's very inspiring. If dems acted like this more often I'd actually believe in them. Where are the other dems fighting for us like this. Why isn't Elizabeth Warren introducing national legislation protecting trans youth and saying the military budget can't be approved if this bill isn't.

Also just saying but this is how every single "progressive politician" should be acting around the climate emergency. Like the new oil fields in Alaska that Biden is proposing should be getting filibustered by his own party

it's kind of a shame about Richard Morgan turning out kind of a weirdo but (death of the author and all that) the thing he wrote about taking the political and making it personal -- that's some good stuff

The personal, as everyone’s so fucking fond of saying, is political. So if some idiot politician, some power player, tries to execute policies that harm you or those you care about, take it personally. Get angry. The Machinery of Justice will not serve you here – it is slow and cold, and it is theirs, hardware and soft-. Only the little people suffer at the hands of Justice; the creatures of power slide from under it with a wink and a grin. If you want justice, you will have to claw it from them. Make it personal. Do as much damage as you can. Get your message across. That way, you stand a better chance of being taken seriously next time. Of being considered dangerous. And make no mistake about this: being taken seriously, being considered dangerous marks the difference - the only difference in their eyes - between players and little people. Players they will make deals with. Little people they liquidate. And time and again they cream your liquidation, your displacement, your torture and brutal execution with the ultimate insult that it’s just business, it’s politics, it’s the way of the world, it’s a tough life and that it’s nothing personal. Well, fuck them. Make it personal.
