Finding out Visa's reduced their ad spend on Twitter to $10 is so funny. Ten bucks! I know people who have spent more than that on tumblr blaze.
OK so on top of this, finding out that Twitter's started to rely on bottom-grade chumbox ads because there are so few real advertisers anymore really makes things look bad for them. This is the absolute lowest-grade, least-valuable ad category around. The fact they had to develop a whole new system to serve them up - and disguise them as tweets! - really reeks of desperation.
fun fact: if you still use twitter and have android you can download this mildly shady patched version of the app , turn off all the ads, and configure a lot of other things about it exactly how you want. it seems benign, after a while using it, and the regular "X" app is about as shady at this point
the thing even lets you manually set feature flags on and off, if you can get a list of those
