TECH CAN ONLY BE AS KIND TO US AS WE ARE TO ONE ANOTHER.

a concept that has a few different ways of being expressed:

"don't get me started", "i could go on". one i heard in maine growing up was "right man for the wrong job"

i have a friend who cannot hear someone say "_____ doesn't even look like a real pokemon" without going off on "WELL WHAT IS, THEN? HAVE YOU SEEN SEEL?"

my personal one, and you aren't gonna believe this, is capitalism and the tech industry.

please don't get me started.

society collectively coins socially acceptable phrases to acknowledge your capability or investment in a thing, and that you are only human at the same time. and that you do not wish to spend all your life being good at something you're not enjoying doing, even if there is (or could be) a version of that thing you would be happy to do instead!

'i fancy myself capable of this but i'm choosing not to. don't force my hand.'

isn't that nice? to be good at something yet take a break? to not be called upon at others' whim as a consequence of your interest, your abilities? to serve a purpose, not a person?

'yeah, i'm good at that. but i've had enough of doing it the way you want.'
