And just like that I am completely and utterly arrested of thoughts. Our favourite album of all time? That's a hell of an ask that is!Fuck me!
Of all time. Well. Let's get to thinking on this one. If there is one album that our system has listened to longer, and more often than any other, that would be Counting Crows - August and everything after. There are plenty of other albums that we love dearly- but August and Everything After is just precious to us. It contains so many feels of the times that truly formed us, there is a certain plaintive quality to Adam Duritz voice, a certain look to his eyes that just- well, it feels familiar to our system as a whole.
It is not our place to ascribe anything to another person. To state that someone is something when they have not claimed that for themselves. So I shall simply leave it at there is something we relate to heavily, and feel a kinship for in Adam Duritz and in the music of Counting Crows. Something that we shall cherish with us forever.
🎼I dreamt I saw you walking
Up a hillside in the snow
Casting shadows on the winter sky
As you stood there counting crows
One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for girls
Four for boys
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret never to be told
There's a bird that nests inside you
Sleeping underneath your skin
When you open up your wings to speak
I wish you'd let me in!
🎼
As for a favourite song. There are just so many to choose from, that is difficult. I could reach for so many that have meant so much. But to find one that means so much to all of us, to every one of us at the same time - or... well, we may let Min have this one. We... shant cop out and say 'two songs are tied' we'll.. pick one.
takes a deep breath
Warren Zevon - Keep Me In Your Heart
The song means, so very much to us. Warren Zevon was a favourite artist. The song was his farewell, rather literally, before passing. It- I think to anyone it is a relatable sensation. But we- on the whole- we know in time that- it is always difficult to discuss our disease. We shall leave it as it has resonance and meaning to us ever so deeply.
