To me a good pet is also a good partner, someone a bit bratty at times. Someone willing to call me on my shit and give me a playful smile. Someone willing to put their toe over the line with a playful smirk knowing just what they are doing and invite that swat to their arse. Someone who actually cares for more than just will this person domme me when I want. A pet is a companion, who loves me just as much as I love them. Honestly- I very much vibe to the song Helena's Lament by Emma Wallace in regards to pets, at least in some regards, not the whole song though.
🎼
I'd be the kind to follow everywhere
You'd run your fingers through my hair
Hold me close when you've had a fright
And let me in your bed when it's cold at night
You'd rub me real nice behind my ears
And sing me songs after you've had a couple beers
Give me treats when I've done something right
And let me in your bed when it's cold at night

My true trouble at the moment is one of time, and having the time between work, cooking, doing my g-posing, stress about finances, to have time to properly treat a pet. I do my best to make time for my partners, but it is lamentably difficult- what free time I have is almost in an exhausted fugue state. That said- to me the ideal pet is one that is there for play, but also for love. The way a cat or a dog knows when their person is sad and will rest their head on their hip to let said person pet them and find comfort.

Like a good loyal canine, one might say.
