Sitting as snug as a bug in a rug,

Silence commingling with sounds of

The television.

Thirst quenched, hunger abated,

Warmed and drowsy.

Pearls of the sky dot the ground

Wetting the underfoot of all who venture out.

The sun sets to prepare for another day,

Setting the normal blues to a blaze.

Only the flutter and twitter of birds

Signal that day is still here.

Mechanical beasts drive past,

Touting all the splendor of a modern age.

The crackle of a fire, scent of wood smoke;

Teaches me to revel in the warmth of life.

Though the years may have been harsh,

There’s beauty in the small things.

This poem is much softer than most of my other poetry, so you've been warned. I'll try to put trigger warnings where appropriate :3
