As part of the goals I set for myself this year, one of them is to try and produce 3 full on personal illustrations that aren't fan art. I wanted to draw sheep and some folks herding them in my ongoing series of weird little guys existing in a post-apocalyptic naturescape and began sketches. I don't often show this part of the process, but I figure this might be a fun way to share progress on something I won't be done for a while. I will also be streaming some sessions on this piece, over on my Twitch, some afternoons this week.
These are not real sheep and what I mean by that is that my goal is not to recreate a specific existing kind of sheep. There are aspects of Maasai sheep, and there are aspects of fat-tailed sheep, but neither of those have sexual dimorphism in such a way where the rams are double the size and have horns like that. I'm also giving all of them big fluffy eyebrows because it lets me hide some of the eyes under fluff.
