It would be a decent Metroidvania if it weren't incredibly tedious, featuring a ton of very slow backtracking, at least one very slow forced stealth section, tons of very slow swimming, and some extremely slow carrying back and forth of batteries. And I found out the hard way that the batteries can be instantly destroyed by certain hazards, and the door that blocks off said hazard doesn't stay closed, but will open after a little while with zero warning, coincidentally just as you're in the one place where it will instantly destroy the battery.
I found myself constantly wishing I were playing a better Metroidvania, like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. And you know what? That's exactly what I'm going to do now.
