I love these ideas and I agree with everything Patty's on about here, but at first glance it might seem like "Identity Death" would constitute all TF that doesn't incorporate anything physical from the normal human form. But I think there's something really powerful in the dialogue Patty adds here.
By transforming into your own OC, one could argue that your are now making physical something that was once in you own imagination, something that was a part of your identity. People might not recognize you, but those who know you well would recognize that it's you without much trouble at all. You're arguably more you than you were before.
But by transforming into something that's not only nothing to do with you, like a dragon or a cool wolf, an empty vessel as far as the world is concerned, something a personality can go into without a conflict in people's brains, by becoming something that DID have a personality that people already knew, you have permanently lost a part of your individuality. Your role in the world has now changed! You look like a renamon, you sound like a renamon, you smell like a renamon. It's never ever going to be someone's first assumption that you're Patty, or anyone else. It's going to take convincing, you're renamon until proven otherwise. Your identity is dead, you may not be renamon but you are not you anymore.
Everything in between, turning into objects, turning into generic fantasy animals, a lot of it could be identity death for sure, but I think in most cases where someone doesn't have an assumption about how you should act as a sentient being its a much weaker application. I don't even think about TF much at all, but I really like the power of wearing an IP like a suit (permanently) without any personalization for the whole vibe Patty describes here and I could really go on about it.
