hey so are we going to have a culture where commenting on a post is like starting a convo with op or like reacting to op. are these comments like replying to someone on twitter or are they like dropping commentary in the tumblr tags

one way that cohost comments very much differ from tumblr tag commentary is they don’t show up on your blog - your followers would have to click into the comment section to see them. this is unfortunate to me (in some situations) because i like reacting to art in the format of gushing about it to my friends.

just adding the commentary onto the post (like this) doesn’t work very well though, bc my followers’ followers don’t necessarily need to see my “oh what nice colors!” comments on their tl, and especially after a couple layers the post gets crowded. hence why tumblr folks ended up mostly using tags for that shit.

so, maybe what i want is like… sticky comments? so i can reblog a post, and add a comment to the comment section, and have that comment show up stuck to my reblog of the post for my followers to see. but it isn’t actually part of the content of the post so when my followers reblog it from me the comment won’t be included!

sometimes people Would specifically want to include the comment when they reblog though, like pasting in the previous person’s tags on tumblr or qrting a clever mid-convo reply on twitter. so it would be nice to have a convenient button for “append this comment to the op as additional post content”. (this may be too easily abusable though, idk. but then again, it’s nothing you can’t do with screenshots if you rly want to.)
