I don't think social media is an inherently bad thing, but I do think the fact that everyone loathes every single one of the major platforms, especially the ones they choose to tolerate so they can stay connected with the world, speaks volumes to the damage they've ultimately caused and will continue to cause. There's a reason Cohost feels like a detox. It's not exactly a hot take.

There's always making your own websites and surfing the web old-style when everything eventually burns down, but I do hope whatever this trend of failing social medias is happening continues to be met with a rise of indie socials like cohost and crabber (R.I.P) to take their place and offer people (relative) safety from the whims of billionaire manchildren.

GODS yeah, I remember the community there was so wholesome and friendly save for the few straggler exclusionists here and there, and the wild west was such a fun feature because of it and I kinda wish something to that effect was implemented here since we already kinda have a global tag. But with the fact that it just kinda vanished into thin air, I still haven't been able to find most of the people I'd followed and become friends with there and I miss the sense of community and it feels even worse because almost no mention of it exists anywhere anymore.

Speaking of actually, have y'all seen the retrospective videos the creator posted about crabber?
