30-something
Black, andLikes Comics and junk.

The newest Superman comic started recently, and Jamal Campbell (AKA Pryce14) is on art duty for this series. He does a stellar job as always, with interior pages that look just as good as his work on the covers. (And the story for this issue is pretty decent too!)

I'm assuming (and desperately hoping) they're treating him well, as he's mostly been working on big name, well advertised title with big name creators over at DC.

Nice to see that he still uses the same old signature.

For those who don't know, Pryce14 used to be a pretty well regarded fan artist who was starting up his own webcomic, before he more or less disappeared into the realm of mainstream comics. As far as I can tell, he doesn't and hasn't used social media as much as he used to. One can only imagine what's the whole idea, but oh well, all I know is that he's doing well enough apparently.

He worked on Naomi with Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker, which either did well or got pushed well enough to get a TV show on The CW. Even if said show doesn't look good to me (like, even for CW standards, IMO) and clearly had to make up a ton of stuff, being based on the six issues that were out at the time... Hey! At least all three got proper TV credits.

He also worked with Sci-fi writer N.K. Jemisin on Far Sector, a Green Lantern book for Gerard Way's Young Animal line of DC comics. It's neat, and stars a new character that can only be described by saying "What if Janelle Monáe was a detective that was very clearly a huge Gurren Lagann fan?" Literally no other way to describe that character.

Dude has a pretty great career at a glance, especially compared to so many other new artists and contributors of all kinds just get burned by an industry that often overworks and undervalues them.

Well, I better stop here, before I go on a rant about how capitalism eventually rots everything it touches, turning the pursuit of fun and artistic freedom into a vile contest for stability, profits, and relevance.

Anyways. Uh, yeah good for him. Wonder if he'll ever return to the story he was telling with that webcomic? Oh well. At least he's involved in fairly decent work right now. You can always appreciate that.
