It seems like the worst thing that can happen to a GKids release of an anime film is that they'll probably change the title. (Or continue to try casting celebrities for larger films, but that's almost another conversation entirely.)
Titles (and other things) get changed to reach a wider audience all the time in all sorts of places, for all sorts reasons. Celebrities get cast, involved, or used as inspiration in the same ways.
But damn, was it admittedly lame that huge Hollywood companies like Disney and Miramax (I don't remember) had to be the distributors of these things for a while. For reasons I could—but probably won't— write a whole other post about, I'm glad that things are a bit different now for anime, and foreign media in general.
