I've also been considering a surface, and like I see it as pretty much the same as getting another windows laptop. The need question, for me at least, is more about whether or not i need a laptop right now, and the answer at the moment is no.

Yeah, the laptop bit is simultaneously driving and killing my interest. I should really just use the one I already have more often, rather than buy another one that's probably worse.

I could probably just get a tablet, but the 2-in-1 convenience sounds like something I might as well go for if i go down that route.

Yeah. I actually have a surface go (2018) that I've used as my go-to laptop for working when traveling, and my experience with it is what's keeping me from committing to the new surface pro or something similar rn.

In the end I still ended up with 3 devices: phone for games and phone things, a tablet for reading and media, and the surface for doing stuff that requires typing and windows.

Because win 11's touch experience is just really not great, I struggle to think of a situation where the surface go would replace my current android tab.

In the end the dealmaker for me with a surface would be if I appreciate its small form factor (it really is pretty much the current epitome of a 2-in-1) or get much more into its pen-involved aspects (like drawing or note-taking).

Barring that, though, I think just shelling out for a laptop with better specs is the move.
