30-something
Black, andLikes Comics and junk.

  • Pluto (Netflix Anime, finished): Another great adaptation of a great Naoki Urasawa story. There were a few times where I got a tad distracted by cases of iffy CGI, or just the fact that Kieth David is here. But those things worked fine for the most part. And the long episode runtimes was an interesting choice that mostly worked well. Great stuff.

  • Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (Netflix, started): Also really good so far. Goddamn. If you're a fan and don't know exactly what to expect, check it out ASAP. Super cool that the whole movie cast is here for this. Apparently Tony Oliver was the voice director on this. Neat.

  • Blue Eye Samurai (Netflix, started): Damn, dude. It's so good to have so much high quality animation that's also 3D/CG. And also allowed to be mature, richly written, and silly. I can only hope for more, not less. Brenda Song is in this one too, neat.

  • Transformers: Shattered Glass (Comic book, pretty sure it's not legally or sanely available, started): What if the roles were reversed? This is that. It's as good as I heard, and now I have to date another Starscream.

  • Transformers, Void Rivals (Skybound Comics, new, started): Pretty enjoyable stuff. Shame about the the old comics going up in smoke though. But I want to date the Starscream that will certainly kill me in an instant. So I'll take it. Both books here are off to a strong start. Yay sci-fi.

  • Superior Spider-Man Returns (Comic Book, started, issues #0 & #1): The Superior Spider-Man does not return... Yet. Dan Slott writes more Spider-Man. Complete with that new Spider-Boy kid being here, and some stuff that happened in the past, yep. Otto was a pretty spotty, often revolting Spider-Man. I love to see it.

  • Fallen Friend: the Death of Ms. Marvel (Comic, finished): Her lame, poorly written death in Spider-Man was followed up with by this actually good one issue special. It's good because they managed to get the previous Ms. Marvel and Champions writers and artists on board here. And also set up Kamala's predictable, hasty return like a month later. Can these people write Spider-Man instead?

  • The Hunger and the Dusk (Comic book, started): G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel, see previous entry) is writing a new fantasy series for IDW comics. It's pretty rich stuff so far. It's fairly bloody, that human dude is probably gonna bone that orc girl. Couldn't really ask for more. (Except bigger orc women, but we'll see about that.)

  • Scales and Scoundrels (comic book, started): Much more on the family friendly side of family, this hits like a criminally slept on animated movie that has tons and ton of charm. I'm mad I took so long to get around to this.
