@stevejmar

this means i can finally talk about being Lead Designer and the triumphs and struggles of building this wonderful game!

although i'm not as cohost popular as @MOOMANiBE i think she sets a good example. so just gonna copy this comment about Wanderstop asks:

  1. I can't answer any questions about the plot or gameplay or our PR person will destroy me
  2. Questions like "Why is [thing]" or about hiring or anything like that are best sent to the email on our official website at ivyroad.fun
  3. I am happy to talk about game development related questions ... as long as they're not overlapping with the previous two bullet points!

in my role on Wanderstop, i tried to find a good balance between my personal fascinations and habits and what was required for the game at the time. sometimes they were more compatible than others . . . for example; i love games academia. call it a side effect of going through public school gifted-and-talented. something about long form essays and research papers really clicks with me. being able to bring that to the game was a personal joy.

here is one of the papers that helped inform some of the groundwork i used when design Wanderstop. please give it a read if you want! massive thank you Zoë O’Shea and the other co-authors for sending over a copy of their paper : )
