daily knowledge: the Phillips-head screw is named after the businessman Henry Phillips. he did not invent the Phillips-head screwdriver. that would be John Thompson, who patented the cross-headed screw and screwdriver in 1932 and 1933, and sold the patent to Phillips in 1935.
