🚨 The Redwood Drive-In & Swap Meet is a historic and cultural resource and gathering space in West Valley. The community of hundreds of local vendors have created the space we know it as today alongside the diverse community of neighbors, families, and friends.
🚨 For the last 3 months, vendors and community members have been working together in fighting the rezone of the Redwood Drive-In Theater and Swapmeet. The covert racism shown by the West Valley City Planning Commission and their and disregard for Edgehomes history of making dangerous developments was shameful. West Valley City Council members have not responded to the efforts and arguments of the community so far. So, we will be moving the power back into the hands of the people, starting with this event.

🚨West Valley City Council will vote about the rezone Tuesday, September 17 at West Valley City Hall at 6:30 PM.
We are calling for West Valley City Council to VOTE NO to the rezone of the Redwood Drive-In and Swapmeet.
The displacement of long term residents and local businesses and resources for redevelopments that do not meet the needs of the community MUST STOP!
Developers view the west side as an easy way to make a big profit by buying the city planning process because they do not care about making livable, affordable, or quality housing. They are just trying to pack in as many units as they can without caring what it does to the rest of the community. Just like what EdgeHomes is trying to do right now.
While our people see value in cultural spaces, local resources, and community economics, West Valley City prioritizes redevelopment over the destruction and erasure of our community for the sake of profit. Do not use property owner rights as an excuse to destroy marginalized spaces solely for the sake of profit.
Last time, West Valley City Planning Commission...\
- Denied us a spanish interpreter. We had to get our own! The interpreter had to summarize an hour of the planning commission conversation on top comment period translation. 2) Had not updated minutes and recordings to the public. They were all back logged since March. 3) Showed passive agreessive behavior when speaking about the Swapmeet and towards the people while they spoke during comment period/ expressed themselves during the meeting.
