I guess it's a good time to say farewell <3 I was slowly staggering posting all my art I've made over the years and I guess it's perfect I never got around to posting the illustration I'm the most proud of till the very end!

If you want to follow things I make or keep in touch, this write up and any future things will be on my Neocities website here: https://princessrosalina.neocities.org/ and I also still have a Tumblr here: https://princessrosalina.tumblr.com/

I spent almost a whole month on this, for the last illustration uni assessment I did before I had to give in and get serious about my library studies diploma and work a lot :o

This was somewhat meant to be a concept art piece for a video game level and the game itsself was only a very rough idea in my head, a sort of platformer/assist game where you control a fairy and help little creatures navigate environments. Floating islands have long been one of my favorite fantasy environments and I went all out in imagining the sort of comfortable space that I try to take my mind to when I'm anxious and stressed.

After some initial concept sketches, I actually modelled out some little islands with polymer clay and got some photos to try and help wrap my head around the perspective and depth and this was almost its own entire fun little project! I tried setting up as many different lighting angles as I could while doing this too.

Most of the process once I had the initial sketch from here just put me into a flow state that I very rarely get into, maybe having a deadline and doing something that wasn't only for myself helped, while being able to still do something that was so personal and satisfying kept it from being tedious or boring.

I've run out of embeds on this post but thankfully I documented most of the rest of the process by screen recording it and making a timelapse video, which you can watch here!

Hope you enjoyed seeing more behind the scenes of this than I've ever shared before! I find it quite hard to be very open on the internet and share anything much of anything so it's nice to just dump some thoughts about something I really loved that I created
